Barnardo’s approached LOMI to review their retail brand offer and develop a brand strategy that would consolidate, refresh and create a more consistent look and feel which would be used throughout the various store formats.

Background

Barnardo’s have 5 store formats; Community stores, Children stores, Furniture stores, Discounts stores and Donation centres. The look and feel of these formats had been developed organically over time and therefore lacked consistency and a strong retail brand presence.

Result

A brand tone of voice was developed that promoted the benefits of shopping and donating at Barnardo’s. This emphasised heavily on the local areas around each specific store. A specific colour way was used for each format to create a point of difference supported by a strong perimeter freeze that was used in all the store formats. Store communication and basic store layout was developed to ensure consistency from high level to product level.
